Growing Strong Boards for a New Era: A Workshop for Nonprofit Leaders
Kansas City, MO
The NACD Heartland Chapter is proud to announce that we are co-sponsoring the “Growing Strong Boards for a New Era” Event with UMKC Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership Henry W. Bloch School of Management. The event is a workshop for Leaders and Executives of Nonprofit Organizations and will be held from 1:30p – 5:00p on April 22 in Kansas City.
We hope you will consider attending this timely and engaging workshop. During the workshop you will learn more about and discuss the changing nature of nonprofit boards and explore options for how boards and their leaders are working to develop and engage their members in work that fundamentally makes a difference in the success of their organizations.
These are paradoxical and demanding times for nonprofit organizations and their boards. More than ever, boards are being recognized for their value and importance to organizational success and accountability. Yet our boards also are more challenged than ever. There is a lot of competition for time and talent, and the challenge of successfully recruiting, retaining and engaging the people we need to do the work we need is greater, too. Even the best of boards seek ways to make the most of their members!
This session features three national experts and leaders in the field of nonprofit boards and governance:
Vernetta Walker, JD, Vice President of Programs and Chief Governance Officer, BoardSource
Yvonne Harrison, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, State University of New York – Albany
David Renz, Ph.D., Director, Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership at UMKC
Registration and payment of the registration fee can be done at the UMKC Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership Website for this event.
