Do you understand social media and your responsibility as a director or c-suite executive? If not, this workshop is for you! Finally, a chance to ask all the questions you've wanted to know to "de-mystify" social media. Get ready to roll up your sleeves and learn about the different platforms (e.g. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram), the terms and the target demographics for each, and how you could create a strategy to use social media to help meet your business goals. Our experts will share best practices, take away the "mystery" of social media, and explain the impact and benefits to your business, organization, or for your personal use.
Take a deep dive into the "Big 4".
We will drill down on LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. You'll learn how the algorithms function for each of these platforms, how to best use them, and start to make connections for how you might benefit from each of these platforms, both personally and professionally. Additionally, case studies will be presented for major brands who had success on each of the platforms.
Learn social media language.
Words like "influencer," "trending hashtags" and "likes and shares" may sound like millennial buzz, but they are terms that could aid in your understanding of social media, and add real value to your organization. Once you learn how to "speak social," you'll be able to better vet opportunities using these channels.
Identify Measures and Metrics.
Social media without a strategy is just for fun...and there is no room for "just fun" in your business objectives. During this session, you'll learn how to take the goals of your organization and create clearly defined social media goals, along with tactics and execution strategies to reach those goals. You will then learn how to access and evaluate the metrics each platform provides to see how well you are doing.
Utilize The Board as Your Best Influencers.
Learn how to build a personal digital footprint for both your organization and its members, while using social media to distribute key messaging and raise awareness.

After receiving an undergraduate and a master’s degree from the University of Arkansas, Wayne Strickland’s career took him to Hallmark – that wonderful company in the heartland of America. During his 38-year tenure, he played a number of roles including Vice President of Marketing & Strategy, Vice President of Marketing for Hallmark Gold Crown, General Manager, and President and General Manager of the Walmart and Sam’s Club division. Most recently he developed the strategy and built the teams to offer Hallmark cards through multiple Amazon platforms.
Wayne has led teams of 5,000 and 10,000 people and been responsible for a $1B P&L. He was honored to receive the J.C. Hall Lifetime Achievement award which has only been bestowed on a handful of people in the history of Hallmark.
During his long career, Wayne developed a wealth of leadership skills and insights which he compiled into a book titled Leadership Philosophy. My second book, Get Over Yourself, Decide to Lead: Insights from Hard Lessons Learned, was published in 2018.
While at Hallmark, Wayne had the benefit of meeting with a group of executives to share experiences. He found that having a team of outside advisors was incredibly helpful in solving problems and sparking new ideas. That’s one of the reasons that he became a CEO coach. Wayne has wisdom and experience to share that will make a difference for CEOs, business owners, and senior executives who are striving to rise higher.
Wayne also enjoy keynote speaking where he can share what he has learned with others so they can navigate their careers as best as possible. He has 3 keynote presentations in his portfolio. 1) Why Leaders Fail and How to Avoid it. 2) What Leaders Can Learn from Rock and Roll, where he partners with one of the world’s best Rock and Roll Performers, Tanya O’Callagan. 3) Understanding Social Media and What Leaders Should Do About It Today, where he partners with one of the leading social media experts in the country Christina Hagar, President of Ovations.
Wayne enjoys outdoor activities such as boating, cycling, and golf. He is a 50+ year guitar hobbyist and hope to play in a band when he grows up.
Wayne and his wife, Aviva, have 4 children and 3 grandchildren. They are fans of the Royals and Chiefs and proud to call Kansas City home.
